Thief of three nights

In an old city there lived a man who was kind devout and always trusted in Allah. His life was simple. He was always at peace and happy. He did not have a lot of money. He was content with what he had and always helped others.

This man had a habit of leaving his door open every night before he went to sleep. People would tell him that it was not an idea, that it was not safe but he would just smile and say

“Whatever Allah has decided for me will happen and what He has not decided will not happen to me.”

In the city there was a thief. He was known for being clever and good at stealing. He would sneak into peoples houses at night. Take their valuable things.. He was never happy. He always felt anxious and uneasy.

This is where the story of the Three Night Thief begins.

One evening the thief went out to find a house to rob. He walked down the streets. Came to the kind mans house. He saw that the door was open. At first he was surprised. Then he smiled.

“Today I got lucky ” he thought.

He slowly went inside the house. The house was very quiet. He looked everywhere. He did not find anything valuable. No money, no gold, no silver.

The house was as simple inside as it was outside.

After looking he found a small bag. He quickly grabbed it. Left.

When he got outside and opened the bag he found a few dates and some flour. He got angry.

“What kind of house is this?” he asked.

The night the thief broke into the same house again. This time he was more careful. He was greedy. Frustrated that he did not find anything the night before.

He slowly looked everywhere. Again he did not find anything valuable.

This time he found a room with some old things but they were not worth anything.

Finally he found another bag. He happily grabbed it. Left.

When he opened it he found the same things. Dates and flour.

He felt anxious. Thought to himself

“This man is either very poor or he is choosing to live this way.”

This was the night of the three-night thief.

A strange battle started inside the thiefs heart. On one side he felt greedy and on the side he felt disappointed. He started to wonder who this man was and why he lived such a life.

In his life he had stolen from houses but he had never found a house with nothing valuable.

This thought made him go back to the house again on the night.

On the night the thief went back to the house. He felt strange and uncomfortable. He was still greedy.

This time he decided that if he did not find anything he would meet the man.

He slowly went inside the house. This time something was different.

The owner of the house was awake.

The thief stopped moving. His heart started racing. He quickly turned around. Tried to run but then he heard a gentle voice.

“Wait do not be afraid.” “I will not hurt you.”

This was the moment when the thiefs life started to change.

The kind man did not yell at him. Scold him. Instead he kindly invited him in.

He looked at the thief. Saw that he was just a man who had been led astray by greed and bad circumstances.

This was what made this story special. The mans actions changed the thiefs life.

The thief started crying. His heart became soft. He asked

“Will Allah forgive me?” “I have done bad things.”

The kind man answered with love.

“Allahs mercy is very big.” “Allah will forgive you if you truly repent.”

This was the moment that changed the thiefs life.

The thief felt sorry away. He promised that he would not steal again.

At first life was hard for him. He had to work and sometimes he went hungry but he chose to eat halal food.

As time passed he became a man.
